Thurgood Marshall lived in Baltimore from 1908 to 1925
Thurgood Marshall was Born in Baltimore,Maryland. He was the grandson of a slave and as a young boy his father William Marshall instilled in him from youth to appreciate the law and the constition. Thurgood Marshall original name was Thoroughgood marshall and he changed it beacause it was a burden in school spelling it. so in second grade he changed it. After completing high school in 1925, Thurgood followed his brother, William Aubrey Marshall, at the historically black Lincoln University in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
I think That Thurgood Marshall Had a great deal to do with the civil rights movement. Like he became the Chief Counsel for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Which recognized black people for their achievements. He also was the judge in the landmark case Brown v. Board decision in 1954, which stoped segregation in schools and black an whites where intergrated for the first time. After this John F. Kennedy appointed Thurgood Marshall to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Where he was in a position to provide more equality for all races.
I would rate Thurgood marshall a seven because he wasnt the best civil rights activist out their but he did enough plus more. like the Brown v Board case if he wasnt on that panel of judges we might still be in seprate schools. He also played a big part in the NAACP and was the nation's first African-American Supreme Court justice. and while in supream court he wrote over 150 decisions including support for the rights of immigrants, limiting government intrusion in cases involving illegal search and seizure, double jeopardy, and right to privacy issues.Thurgood Marshall is a civil rights icon that we will all remember.
